I have prepare a checklist of few important question, which must be asked by ourselves before taking a position. Though simple, but they will tend to keep you on the right track, these are:

Before taking a Position Always Ask Yourself Following Questions:

1. Is the Market Trending UP?

2. Is the Market Trending Down?

3. Is the Market Rangebound?

4. Am I buying the Support or Selling Resistance OR Idiotically doing vice versa?

5. Are all indications present to commit to the trade?

6. Am I taking a position in the favor of the prevailing trend on a Pullback?

7. Am I taking a position against the prevailing trend on Consolidation?

7. Am I taking a Counter Trend Position to Capture the Retracement?

I regard it as absolute ok if you answer to this two simple questions before taking a position.
Because if you answer 1.) with 'yes' you may have already checked if your trading system shows, your indicators or what else you use that these things show you to enter the market.
I guess it's more important to really ask yourself this questions, to be a way cool and in a sane state of mind.

1.) Should I enter the market now (yes/no)
2.) How should I enter them (long/short)
