Boston, February 18: As
long as sovereign names --believed to be eastern European and Asian-- continue
to by the dips, leveraged accounts will jump on their back and ride the wave.
The wave should crest ahead of 1.3090 where options protection is expected once
again. Rising US yields are being ignored at present in the wake of the big jump
in the core PPI. Expiries are eyed in the 1.3050/60 and 90/00 regions at 15:00
GMT.
Bank of Greece Governor Garganas is quoted by Market News saying that he sees no
new ECB rate signals in the coming weeks but that rates can not stay low
forever. Excess liquidity has not hit inflation yet, but the ECB must remain
watchful, he says. Clearly the ECB would like to raise rates but with the
economy tepid and the EUR strong, it must retrain its instincts. --
