BEIJING, Nov 20 (Reuters) - China will raise tariffs on some U.S. imports and is studying the details of how to do so, Vice Commerce Minister Ma Xiuhong said on Thursday.
Although the announcement came just two day after Washington said it would cap imports of some Chinese textiles, Ma said the new tariffs were in response to U.S. duties on steel imports enacted a year and a half ago.
"The Chinese side will raise import tariffs on some commodities imported from the United States and we are currently studying relevant plans," the official Xinhua news agency quoted Ma as saying. | | | | |
